Tamara L. Falicov is the inaugural dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dean Falicov is the author of two books: Latin American Film Industries and The Cinematic Tango: Contemporary Argentine Film, with a co-edited book on film festival research methodologies, with Dorota Ostrowska to be published in 2023. The recipient of a grad student Fulbright to Argentina, she received grants from the University of London Center for Latin American Studies, and served as a visiting professor at the Universidad de Medellín, Colombia twice. In 2018 she was a Fulbright Specialist to Portugual and taught film development seminars in Guatemala and Honduras in 2018-19.

For Tamara, the IRC matters because this organization brings the world to Kansas City. The IRC helps to broaden our horizons, and ideas from the international sphere provides alternative models for us to think about ourselves and how our community is progressing. It also helps for others from abroad to visit and see the incredible accomplishments that we have developed for us to share with them in a bidirectional fashion.
