Great Decisions is America's largest discussion program on world affairs. The program involves reading the Great Decisions Briefing Book and meeting in a discussion group to discuss the most critical international issues facing the United States, and the global community, today. A number of groups meet around the KC Metro Area. 2020 Great Decisions Briefing Books are now on sale for $25 ($32 from the Foreign Policy Association), and DVDs are available for $40; both will be delivered in JanuaryLearn more and purchase materials »

Global Experience: The Tamale Kitchen – Monday, December 9 – 6-8 p.m. – Northeast KCMO
Global Experience programs give participants of all ages, interests, and backgrounds the chance to explore how international Kansas City is while answering two key questions – What's your global story? Do you get the chance to share it? Join the women of Kansas City's own Tamale Kitchen for this special hands-on introduction to the culture, assembly, and enjoyment of traditional tamales – a holiday staple. Venezuela remains a country in deep instability. With a recent history marked by jarring political, social, and economic events and trends, the country has seen an outflow of more than 4 million people (1 million+ in the last 12 months). Where does Venezuela go from here, and what are the prospects for a true turning point? IRC Book Club: From Cold War to Hot Peace – Tuesday, January 28 – 6:30-8 p.m. – Kauffman Foundation Conference Center
The IRC Book Club gives participants the opportunity to discuss foreign affairs, global topics, authors' perspectives, historical events, and their current local relevance in a respectful, engaging setting. Convened by seasoned Great Decisions leader Jack McLaren, the group meets every six to eight weeks to dig into a different author's work. Read more and register »
