In partnership with the Linda Hall Library, the IRC is excited to welcome Dr. Linda Godwin for a program on international cooperation in space. Godwin is a retired NASA astronaut, where she completed four missions and logged over 38 days in space.

About the Speaker
Selected by NASA as an astronaut candidate in 1985, Dr. Linda Godwin is a veteran of four Space Shuttle flights, logging over 38 days in space, including over 10 EVA hours in two spacewalks. In 1991, she served as a Mission Specialist on STS-37; Payload Commander on STS-59 in 1994; Mission Specialist on STS-76 in 1996 that docked with Russia’s Mir space station; and Mission Specialist on STS-108 that docked with the International Space Station.

Dr. Godwin received a BS in mathematics and physics from Southeast Missouri State University, and an MS and PhD in physics from the University of Missouri. She retired from NASA in 2010 and returned to the University of Missouri as a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. The Linda Godwin Center for Science and Mathematics at Southeast Missouri State University is named in her honor.

Ticket Information
Registration for a limited number of seats will open on March 26, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. on the Linda Hall Library's website. The event is free and open to the public; however, e-tickets are required.

Parking and Logistics
The main entrance to the Linda Hall Library grounds is on Cherry Street. Parking is free in Library parking lots and along the west side of Holmes Street between 51st and 52nd Streets. The Linda Hall Library is not affiliated with UMKC. Parking in all UMKC lots is by permit or meter. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.
