About Our Hosts

You know Children’s Mercy as the premier pediatric teaching hospital in the region. With the launch of Its international program two years ago its world-class, child-centered approach and family-centered care is now even more accessible to patients worldwide. In addition to increased international patient referrals, this new program was established to enhance the hospital’s global branding and consulting initiatives.

Diastole Scholars' Center
Diastole Scholars’ Center » was founded by Dr. E. Grey Dimond, Founder of the UMKC School of Medicine, and his wife, Mary Clark Dimond. The Dimonds were true citizens of the world. They traveled widely and read deeply on virtually every continent and culture. Diastole’s extensive collection of art and artifacts reflect this spirit of global adventure, goodwill, and shared endeavor. Also based at Diastole is the Edgar Snow Memorial Foundation », a US-China friendship organization created to celebrate the memory and continue the work of Kansas City native journalist Edgar Snow. A close friend of the Dimonds, Snow was an international journalist best known for his 1937 instant classic Red Star Over China, the first ever interviews by a western journalist of the young Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, and other future leaders of modern China.
