About the Event
Each year, teams of eight come together in a spirit of friendly competition to showcase their global knowledge over dinner and drinks. After dinner, we turn up the heat with rounds of questions on world geography, history, current events, languages, and more. The winners (through third place) take home valuable prizes (restaurant gift cards, tickets to local shows, etc.), and the first-place team receives a traveling trophy and bragging rights. We'll be giving away door prizes through the evening, as well.
The evening's schedule will be:
6:00-7:00 Buffet dinner and drinks (included in ticket price)
7:00-9:00 WorldQuest trivia competition
WorldQuest Benefits Global Education
Your attendance at the WorldQuest event, along with any additional contribution you choose to make, helps to support the IRC's efforts in global education. Each year, we put on an academic tournament for area high-schoolers, invite students from across Kansas City to presentations with international experts, and share new ideas with local teachers. At WorldQuest, you'll get to meet the students and faculty advisor from Blue Valley North High School (Overland Park), pictured here, who won this year's academic tournament and will head to Washington, D.C., at the end of April for the national competition. We'd love your help in making these opportunities for exposure and deep learning available to more students. Please consider making a contribution today » or donating at WorldQuest on April 5.
Please use online registration (above) if would like to sign up a complete team of eight or purchase individual tickets. We'll be happy to put individuals or small groups together to form teams the evening of the competition. Registration will close on Friday, March 30.
Sponsorships are available and include prime seating for a table of eight, your logo on the website and event signage, recognition from stage, and your logo displayed during one round of trivia questions. For more information, please contact Matthew ».
Complimentary parking will be available for event guests on floors 5 and 6 of UMKC's Cherry Street Parking Garage (located at 50th and Cherry) from 5-10 p.m. Please be aware that normal UMKC parking enforcement will be in effect outside of these hours and in other parking lots and levels. Our venue for the evening, Pierson Auditorium, is just a short walk away, inside the Atterbury Student Success Center. Both buildings can be located on this map ».
