June 14, 2017: Summer Days

Dear friends,

It really feels like summer is here: the sun stays out late and comes up early, and we've reached that blend of heat and humidity for which Kansas City is known. In the midst of family vacations and outdoor celebrations, we hope you'll find time to join us for a few upcoming programs.

We had a teacher let us know that she is unable to attend next week's workshop, which means that we have one more spot available. You can find more information below; please let Matthew know if you'd like to fill this spot.

We still have sponsorship opportunities – as well as general-admission tickets – available for the upcoming program on Russia in 2017. We'd like to thank Lathrop Gage, K-State Military Affairs, and IRC members Bill & Lyn Lakin and Holly Nielsen for their support of the program, which should be both timely and engaging. We hope to see you there; please scroll down for more information.

We'll be at the Global Ties Diplomacy Begins Here Summit tomorrow, so please stop by if you have a chance. Have a wonderful week!

Kind regards,
Matthew Hughes, Executive Director

Meet the IRC Board
Anné Erickson – JLL, Office Broker
Anné is a Kansas City native who has returned home after living overseas for six years in Egypt, Thailand, South Africa, India, and the Philippines where she worked analyzing emerging economies and real estate trends. Today Anné brings that unique international perspective to her work as an office tenant representation broker in commercial real estate in Kansas City. She is passionate about global economics, foreign policy, real estate, negotiating, traveling, and learning Spanish. She resides in Brookside with her husband Jim and daughter Theron.

For Anné, the IRC matters because of the role it plays in bringing international understanding and awareness of people, events, and countries that are near and far from Kansas City. Through a better understanding of global affairs, communities can better understand the world around them as well as those within their own community.
