Global Connections

                                                              

Global Connections provides volunteers, both IRC members and Kansas City area citizens, who share their international experience and expertise with a wide variety of schools throughout the Kansas City metro area. Global Connections speakers are available on a wide variety of topics and connect classrooms to the world in a meaningful way.

 

Through these programs: Teachers can supplement lessons with an international point of view. Students can learn first hand how other nationalities live, what traditions are upheld, familial relationships, school life in another culture, music, dance, art and many other aspects of day-to-day life in other countries. IRC speakers inspire participants to want to travel and learn about other cultures. All need to learn that there is a world beyond our borders since they will need to be able to work and function in the global marketplace in the future. IRC speakers break stereotypes/myths about various world cultures. Speakers teach the importance of learning to compromise with people from various world cultures who may look and act differently and have a world vision unlike the American experience.
