IRC offers many ways for local Kansas Citians to get involved. If you are interested in volunteering for any of the opportunities below, please fill out the volunteer form, or call IRC at 816-221-4204.

Great Decisions Facilitator
Location: Greater KC Area
Time Committment: 8 meetings lasting 1-1.5 hours plus a little prep work
IRC is expanding the Great Decisions program in the Greater KC area. We need people to organize groups (adults) in their geographic areas. Organizers can choose to facilitate the meetings themselves, or assign book chapters to group members. No prior knowledge of topics is required. Find out more about the Great Decisions program.

Community Speakers Bureau
Location: Greater KC Area
Time Committment: Usually Mon.-Fri. 9:00am-5:00pm, 30 min -1 hour presentation plus travel time
Speak to community groups on historical and contemporary aspects of a country, foreign policy, geography, and/or culture. Find out more about the Community Speakers Bureau.

Global Connections Speakers
Location: Greater KC Area
Time Committment: Usually Mon.-Fri. 9 am - 3 pm, 30 min -1 hour presentation plus travel time
Speak to school groups (K-12) on historical and contemporary aspects of a country, foreign policy, geography, and/or culture.

Transportation for International Students
Location: Kansas City (Midtown to Brookside)
Time Committment: 2 hours or less, as needed
Volunteers will drive international students who are part of the IRC International Classroom Partnership Program to and from speaking assignments at schools. IRC Members only.

Programs- Event Registration
Location: Greater KC Area
Time Committment: Evenings, 1 hour plus program
Volunteers will assist in greeting and registering attendees at IRC events. IRC Members only.

Special Events Assistance
Location: Greater KC Area
Time Committment: Varies
WorldQuest and the Annual Awards Banquet require extra assistance. IRC needs volunteers to help with soliciting raffle items and transporting flags and other materials to the events.

Office Support
Location: IRC Office in Downtown Kansas City
Time Committment: 2 hour blocks during office hours (Mon.-Fri., 9 am - 5 pm) on a regular basis (weekly or every two weeks)
Volunteers will assist with data entry, mailings and telephoning.
